Gorilla Wines Win Gold at Sakura Women's Wine Awards

Gorilla Primitivo has been awarded with a Gold Medal at the Sakura Japan Women’s Wine Awards 2019. There were a total of over 4300 wines entered and under half were awarded with medals.

The Sakura Women’s Wine Awards is the largest International Wine Competition in Japan - and it is only in it’s sixth year.  The competition was inaugurated with the aim of developing the wine market in Japan, finding wine pairings for Japanese cuisine and involving more Japanese women in the wine trade. All the judges involved in the tasting were female wine professionals.

The award was given as a result of the wine’s ability to combine with asian cuisine and overall appeal to the Japanese market.

All Gorilla wines are fermented in stainless steel tanks and are not aged in oak so to retain the fresh fruit character of the indigenous grape varieties. Gorilla Wines are all vegan friendly and are an accessible way of discovering native and unique Italian grape varieties.
